Adios Ponya!

Yes! My best friend, for more than six years, is now moving back to Ichi. This probably being his last week in Pune, I wish to make the most of this time that we are left with.

This has indeed been an awesome journey. It started way back in 2003. We first teamed up when we had to do a project in Electronics as part of our 12th Grade curriculum. It was just the beginning then and I had no idea of the length of this association!

Next, we had our admissions coming up for engineering colleges. I got into PICT, where we as a group always wanted to be. He had made it to MIT. However, we wanted to be together and insisted on him getting into PICT. And there he was!

The time spent during those four years thereon, was undoubtedly the best time that we had as friends. There were tons of exciting moments that we shared in studies, fun, fights, joys, sorrows and more importantly in the strongest bond that we all shared - friendship. Right from studying together for the engineering subjects (without which I think we both would barely manage to pass), to playing Age of Empires and Counterstrike 24x7, it was this stupendous feeling of oneness that we shared. Worth mentioning are the contributions of our dearest seniors during our first three years of engineering and of our batch-mates during our final year of engineering, without which things would have been definitely different. They helped us grow as a group and instill this mutual feeling of respect towards each other. The rides to Somaiyaa’s Mechanics classes, to Narayanpur, to Mahabaleshwar, and many more will always remind me of the best times that we spent together with our dearest of friends. Yes, we had our shares of fights, some of them on the serious side, but I know those upset him as much as they did me. Words fail to describe this unforgettable journey and this is the most that I can attribute towards it.

As of today, the weekdays are hectic, but there is nothing like the time that we spend on the weekends. We hardly get to talk on the non-S-days, but the king-size brunches, the movies, the outings, the coffees, the cad-Bs, the games, the fun that we have on the S-days are simply incredible.

Alas! This isn’t going to last any longer! He resigned on the 1st of April, 2010. I knew it was coming since the last 4 months, I saw it coming in the last week of March, but I was never prepared to take it. “dala letter”, he pinged at 1630 hours, and within an hour I already had tears rolling down my eyes thrice. Things changed suddenly and I was thinking of the void that his exit was going to create. However, I failed to imagine this difference that his absence was going to make. The day thereafter, was restless and I didn’t want to work anymore that day.

Yes, I am an emotional fool and I don’t mind admitting it. Yes, I am going to long for a wonderful room-mate. Yes, I am going to miss him at meals. Yes, I am going to remember him for his witty one-liners. Yes! I am going to miss him in every moment thing that we had shared until now! Indeed!

Well, life has to move on and so should I. I know it is going to be tough but I have to do it.

Thanks dude, for everything, and it is my pleasure to have the right to write something like this for you. Good luck bro!

  9. Amit , A very well compiled article... Shows how deep and true your friendship is.
Hope you find a good roomie...or maybe you just settle down :P ?
Must say, Pavnya must have been very great room mate for YOU to have such feelings.... (hehe just kidding, sorry for the bashing , but I tried to bring a smile on reader's face while reading this emotional blog!)

Pavan , All the very best for your future. Wishing you success in every path of your life.
Do keep in touch , atleast e-touch.
Like Nikat said, still remember and relish those college moments , the PocketTanks wars (InC time) and the King of Hill AOE battles... (though we couldn't play many ; but Foot Archers rule! ;))

  10. @Shiks Good that he is in Ichi only. So he would be just 'home' away. :)

@Sunil I knew it was not an April Fool prank, but I would have loved it had it been a prank!

@SunilC Thanks, but no thanks. :P

@Pravin Agree Maddie! But still, the 'just a call (not telephone call :P) away distance' is different.. isn't it?

    @Roshan Thanks man!

@Nikhil Yes dude, those times were simply awesome!

@Pawan Do you mean write the next one for you? :P

@Pooja I am still feeling nostalgic. Tougher times ahead ;)

@Kedar Ponya was fantastic, but there is another great roomie - Rana. Not taking anything away from PavanKumar, but Rana was simply awesome to have tolerated me for 5 years :)
